Domain registration

Avaloi does not register domains yet. Register at any registrar, point its DNS at Cloudflare DNS, and read what registration will add.

This feature is not built yet. This article says what works today.

Domain registration is not built. You cannot register a domain, renew one, or turn on WHOIS privacy from Avaloi yet. This article tells you how to bring a domain to Avaloi today and what registration will add when it arrives.

Bring a domain to Avaloi today

  1. Register the domain at any registrar.
  2. Decide where its DNS will live: on Avaloi, or at the registrar.
  3. Add the domain to your site.

Host the DNS on Cloudflare DNS

Hosting the DNS on Cloudflare DNS means Avaloi writes every record a site needs for you.

  1. Open DNS, choose Add zone, and type the domain. Avaloi imports the records the domain has today.
  2. Set the two nameservers Avaloi shows at your registrar.
  3. Choose Check activation. The zone goes live when both nameservers match.
  4. Open your site, then Domains, and choose Add domain. Avaloi writes the validation records and the CNAMEs, the certificate issues, and the domain goes live.

See Cloudflare DNS.

Keep the DNS at the registrar

  1. Open your site, then Domains, and choose Add domain.
  2. Add the three records the tab shows at your registrar: a CNAME to sites.avaloi.com and two TXT records.
  3. Choose Check DNS. The check names any record that is wrong.

Use Prepare first to issue the certificate before you move the CNAME, so the site moves without a certificate gap. See Domains.

Renew and protect your domain today

Renewal and WHOIS privacy stay with your registrar. Turn on auto-renew there so the domain does not lapse, and turn on the registrar's privacy service if you want your contact details hidden.

Quick answers

Can I buy a domain from Avaloi? Not yet. Register it at any registrar and point it at Avaloi.

Does Avaloi renew my domain? No. Renewal stays with your registrar until registration ships.

Can I still host the DNS on Cloudflare DNS? Yes. Cloudflare DNS works today for any domain, wherever it is registered.

Not yet

Domain registration will let you search for a domain, register it, and attach it to a site in one step, with Cloudflare DNS as the zone. Avaloi will renew registered domains before they expire and show the renewal date on the domain. WHOIS privacy will be one switch on a registered domain. This article changes when registration ships.
