Push content between environments
Copy database tables and uploads from live, staging, or another environment, and undo the push for 48 hours.
Parts of this feature are still being built. The Not yet section lists them.
Push copies content from one environment to another: database tables and uploads folders. Use it to bring new posts and products from staging to live, or to refresh staging from live. Open the environment you want to copy from, then Environments, then Push.
Code never moves by push. Plugins, themes, and your other code move by merge and deploy. See Environments.
What you pick
- Target. Live, staging, premium staging, or another environment on this site.
- Tables. All tables, none, or the ones you tick. WooCommerce order tables are unticked by default when the target is live, with a note that says why: orders placed on live must not be overwritten by an older copy.
- Uploads. All uploads folders, none, or the folders you tick.
- Hostnames. Avaloi replaces the source hostname with the target's main hostname in the database, so links keep working on the target.
- Confirm. Type the target site's name. Push does not start until the name matches.
Target-only settings never move. That includes domains, custom Nginx rules, PHP settings, and SSH host keys.
Undo
Before a push changes anything, Avaloi takes a restore point of the target. It is kept for 48 hours. On a successful push, Undo push restores the target from that restore point. The job pill shows the progress.
- Undo works once for each push.
- After 48 hours the restore point expires, and the undo option goes away.
Not yet
- Pushing files and folders for classic sites (sites that write their code on the server) is not built. Use SFTP commits for that code. See SFTP commits.
- Pushing live content on a real node is not verified yet. The demo node does the copy and the undo, and the real node path needs a test run before the feature is called shipped.
- A preview of the rows that will change is not built.
