Set up your company
Companies are optional. Use your own account, or create a business for a team. Switch between them, rename a business, require two-factor, or close one you own.
Companies are optional. When you sign up, Avaloi creates your own individual account. You can use it alone, and you never have to create a business. If you work with a team, create a business.
Your account and businesses
Every account has one of three types. See Account types for what each one includes.
| Type | Who it is for | What it has |
|---|---|---|
| Individual | One person. Your own account. | Every feature for your own sites. No company settings. The dashboard calls it Your account. |
| Business | A team. | Members, invitations, company settings, and ownership. |
| Enterprise | Custom terms, sold by sales. | Everything a business has, plus SSO. Staff set it up. |
Onboarding asks for the account type only. Choose Business and it asks for the business name. Choose Individual and there is nothing else to fill in.
Create a business
An individual account can create a business. Open the workspace menu in the top bar, choose Create a business, and enter a name of 2 to 80 characters. You become the Owner of the new business, and the dashboard switches into it. Your individual account stays as it is.
Only an individual account can create a business. A business or an Enterprise account cannot create another one.
Switch workspaces
The top bar shows the workspace you are in. Open it to see every workspace you can switch into, including your own account. Switching changes which account the dashboard and your API calls use. Your own account stays, and you can switch back at any time.
If someone invites you into a business, the business appears in the switcher once you accept the invitation.
Company settings
Company settings exist only for businesses and Enterprise accounts. An individual account has no company settings screen.
| Setting | Who can change it | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Owner, Admin | 2 to 80 characters. |
| Require two-factor | Owner, Admin | Members enroll on their next request. They cannot skip it. |
| SSO | Owner, on Enterprise only | See SSO. |
| Delete business | Owner, on a business only | See below. |
Delete a business
Only the Owner of a business can delete it. Open Company settings and choose Delete business. The page shows the business name. Type that name exactly to confirm.
Deleting a business cancels its plan first. If a plan cannot be cancelled, the business stays open and you see a message. Members lose access immediately. The business data is scheduled for deletion in 30 days. The activity log keeps integrity entries. Once the business closes, the dashboard switches you back to your individual account. Your own account is not affected.
Enterprise accounts do not close from the dashboard. Contact sales.
Quick answers
Do I need a company to use Avaloi? No. An individual account has every feature. A company is only for working with a team.
Can an Admin rename the business? Yes. Owners and Admins can change the name and the two-factor requirement. Only the Owner can change SSO or delete the business.
Why can I not see Company settings? Company settings are for businesses and Enterprise accounts only, and only for the Owner and Admin roles. Switch to a business where you are an Owner or Admin.
Why does the Delete business button not show? Only the Owner of a business sees it. An Admin or a member does not.
Which account do my API calls use? The workspace you are in when you create the key. Keys belong to one workspace.
