Hourly backups

Back up an environment every 6 hours or every hour, on top of the daily backup. Each hourly backup is kept 24 hours.

Every environment gets a daily backup. For sites that change often, such as online stores, turn on hourly backups for more restore points.

Turn on hourly backups

  1. Open the site and pick the environment at the top of the page. Live and staging are separate: each has its own hourly backups.
  2. Choose Add-ons in the site menu.
  3. On the Hourly backups card, choose Every 6 hours or Every hour. Every hour costs more; the card shows both prices.
  4. Choose Enable, check the monthly total, and choose Enable again.

It is billed from the next invoice, prorated today. You need a saved card first.

What you get

  • A backup every 6 hours or every hour, on top of the daily backup. The first one runs at the next slot.
  • Each hourly backup is kept 24 hours, then removed on its own.
  • Hourly backups show on the Hourly tab of the Backups page. Restore one like any other backup.
  • The schedule on the Backups page says the add-on is on and when the next hourly backup runs.

Change or disable

To change the frequency, pick the other choice on the card and choose Change. The old one is credited for its unused days and the new one is billed from today.

Disable turns hourly backups off now. The environment goes back to the daily backup, the hourly backups already taken stay until they expire, and the unused days of this month are credited to your account.

API and assistants

POST /v1/sites/{id}/add-ons/{addon_id}/purchase with hourly_backups as the add-on and {"frequency": "every_hour", "environment_id": "..."} turns it on or changes it, and .../cancel turns it off. GET /v1/environments/{id}/backup-schedule shows it under hourly. Assistants use the enable_add_on and disable_add_on MCP tools, which ask you first.
