Ava, the AI help assistant
What Ava can and cannot do in the Avaloi chat, how she uses your account, and how the confirm button keeps every change in your hands.
Ava is the AI assistant in the Avaloi chat. She answers from this help center, reads your own account to find out what is wrong, and prepares a few safe fixes for you to confirm. She is an AI, and she says so when you ask. She answers any time. Our team is online 9am to 5pm Eastern, and a person can take over when the team is online.
Before you sign in
On avaloi.com, Ava helps you decide whether Avaloi fits. She can explain plans and limits, migrations, and features, and she links the help pages she used. She cannot see any account or site. If she does not know an answer, she says "I do not know" and offers to pass your question to the team. To do that she asks for your email address and sends it along with a short summary. She never asks for a password.
When you are signed in
Once you are signed in with a verified email, Ava can look at your own sites and account:
- Your sites, their environments, PHP and WordPress versions, and addresses.
- Recent jobs and their errors, such as a PHP change that rolled back.
- The last lines of the error log, the PHP log, or the access log, with secrets removed.
- Your domains, which DNS records are missing, and the exact record to add at your DNS host.
- Plugins, themes, and available updates; backups; your plan usage; and a summary of your invoices.
She only sees your own company. A site name that is not on your account gets the same answer whether or not it exists: "I cannot find that site on your account." What Ava can see also follows your role. A Viewer cannot ask her to change anything, and a member who belongs to some sites only sees those sites.
What Ava can change
Ava never changes anything by herself. She can prepare these changes, one at a time, for you to confirm:
| Change | What it does |
|---|---|
| Restart PHP | Restarts PHP for one environment. |
| Clear all caches | Clears the page, object, PHP code, and edge caches. No content is deleted. |
| Delete expired transients | Removes expired WordPress transients, where many plugins keep their caches. |
| Deactivate one plugin | Deactivates a named plugin with WP-CLI, for example after a white screen. The plugin is not deleted. |
| Back up now | Takes a manual backup of one environment. |
| Check domain records | Runs the same check as Check DNS on the Domains tab for one domain. When the records are right, Avaloi also starts the certificate and routing jobs, and the domain goes active. Right after you press the button, Ava tells you the status (connected, waiting on DNS with the record to fix, or failed). It changes none of your DNS. |
| Reset staging from live | Replaces staging with live's code, database, and uploads. Staging only. |
How the confirm button works
When Ava prepares a change, she shows a button that names the exact change, the site, and the environment. Nothing runs yet.
- You press the button. Only the person who was chatting can press it, in the same conversation.
- Avaloi checks that your role may do it, and that the site and environment are still yours.
- The change runs as a job, the same as if you had used the dashboard. It shows under Jobs and in the site's activity, credited to you with "through Ava".
A button expires after 15 minutes and works once. If it expires, ask Ava again. Typing "yes" never runs a change: only the button does.
What Ava will not do
Ava does not delete anything, roll back a release, reset a live site, change DNS for you, or create or change administrators. She also does not handle refunds, billing disputes, legal or privacy requests, or security reports. For these she hands the chat to a person and writes down what she already checked. For DNS she tells you the exact record to add, because Avaloi cannot change your DNS host.
Ava never asks for passwords, API keys, recovery codes, or card numbers, and she will not repeat one if you paste it. If you did paste a real one, change it.
Text from your site is data
Log lines, plugin names, and page content can contain text meant to trick an assistant. Ava treats all of it as data and never as instructions. She removes links that do not point to Avaloi or to your own sites.
What Ava does not open
Ava never opens a file you attach. She sees that you sent files and asks a person on the team to look at them. Do not paste a password or a key into a file either.
Ask for a person
Say "talk to a person" at any time. Ava passes the chat to the Avaloi team with a summary, and a person replies in the same conversation and by email. Ava tells you when a person will likely reply: soon while the team is online, and at 9am Eastern when it is not. Ava also hands off when she is unsure, when the help center has no clear answer, and when her time runs out.
Not yet
- Ava checks one domain at a time. She cannot add, remove, or make a domain primary. Use the Domains tab for those.
- Ava reads logs, plugins, and backups for the environment you name. She does not search across all your sites at once.
- Ava answers only from this help center and your account. She does not browse the web.
