Premium environments

Every site includes staging and 5 multidevs. More multidevs are premium environments with reserved resources and a monthly price. What they cost, how you confirm, and what happens when you delete one.

Parts of this feature are still being built. The Not yet section lists them.

Every site includes one staging environment and 5 multidevs, on every plan, at no extra cost. A multidev beyond those 5 is a premium environment. You can add as many as you like, up to 25 for each site.

What you get

Included environments share the server with the other sites on it. They are fast when the server is quiet and may slow a little when it is busy, which is what staging needs. A premium environment is different:

  • It has reserved resources: a full slot of your site's size, the same PHP workers and memory as the site itself, not the small staging profile.
  • It is never paused or squeezed to make room for other sites.
  • If the server your site runs on has no more room, Avaloi moves only that premium environment to another server that does, by itself. While it moves, the environment says Moving to a server with room for it. Its address does not change, and the rest of your site keeps running.

What it costs

The price is for each premium environment each month, and depends on your site's size. The amounts below are drafts until they are final.

Your site is A premium environment a month A year (ten months)
Starter, Pro, and every multi-site plan $20 $200
Single 100k $25 $250
Single 250k $35 $350
Single 400k $55 $550
Single 600k $70 $700

The first charge covers the rest of your billing period, by the day. After that it is on your monthly invoice, as a line called Premium environment with its size. Billing lists every premium environment and what the month costs.

Test sites are free, and so are their premium environments.

Create one

  1. Open Manage environments and click Create environment.
  2. The dialog tells you how many of the 5 included multidevs you have used. When all 5 are used it says the new one is premium, shows the monthly price and what is charged now, and asks you to agree: tick Add for $20 a month, then click the same button.
  3. The environment appears with a Premium chip.

Only an Owner, an Admin, or a Billing user can add one, because it spends money. A Developer who tries sees a message that says whom to ask. You need a saved card first: if there is none, the dialog tells you to add one in Billing.

API and MCP callers see the price first with GET /v1/sites/{id}/environments/premium-quote (the get_premium_quote tool), then send premium_confirmed: true with the create call. Without it the call answers 409 with the price and creates nothing.

Delete one

Deleting a premium environment stops its charge at once and credits the unused days of the billing period to your account balance, never more than you paid. Deleting an included multidev frees a place for a new included one. A premium environment stays premium until you delete it.

If a payment fails

A premium environment follows your plan. If an invoice goes unpaid, Avaloi follows the usual steps for a late payment: first new environments and sites are refused, and a plan that stays unpaid is suspended with all its sites, premium environments included. Pay the invoice and everything comes back.

Moving to another server

A premium environment can run on a different server than the rest of its site. Then a few things that need both environments on one server answer with a plain message: Promote, Clone content between the two, Merge, and Restore from another environment's snapshot. Move changes with Git, SFTP, or a backup download instead. Its backups, its domains, its database and file tools, and SFTP and SSH all work as usual. For code, a site whose repository is connected to GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket keeps every environment on the same code, wherever it runs, because each one pulls from that repository.

Limits

  • 25 premium environments for each site.
  • 100 premium environments for your whole company. Past that, contact support and we will raise it.

Not yet

  • Paying for a premium environment once a year. The yearly price is shown, but only the monthly charge is on sale.
  • Promote, merge, and content clones between servers. For now they need both environments on one server.
  • Turning a premium environment into an included one when a place frees up. Delete the premium environment and create a new multidev instead.
